G. "MAX" MAXIN IV (Lighting Design) is a lighting & visual media designer based out of Chicago. He teaches Lighting Design and Technical Execution for theatre at Northeastern Illinois University, is the Stage Center Theatre’s Resident Lighting Designer, and has received an Instructor Excellence Award for teaching. In the 10 years since moving to Chicago, Max has created over 200 designs on over 120 professional & educational productions. He designed Lighting & Projections for the 2020 Non-Equity Best Musical Winner Big Fish (BoHo). Max has received a Jeff Nomination for Best Projection Design for The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey (American Blues), as well as a non-equity Jeff Award Nomination for Best Projection Design for Ghost Quartet (Black Button Eyes) and 2 Non-Equity Jeff Nomination for Best Lighting Design for Cyrano (BoHo) and Urinetown (BoHo). Max was a founding member of Another Door Theatre Project and worked for 3 years as the Head of Production & Resident Scenographer (2016-2018). He spent 2 summers designing lighting for La Musica Lirica, a touring opera company in Novafeltria, Italy. Favorite designs include projects at Mercury Theatre, American Blues Theatre, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Theatre at the Center, BoHo Theatre, DePaul University, Northwestern University, Steppenwolf Garage, Black Button Eyes, & Kokandy. www.ivMaxin.com
